FREE FISH ID CLASS – PARTICIPATE IN THE GREAT ANNUAL FISH COUNT!

In July, participate in REEF’s Great Annual Fish Count by learning how to ID fish seen on Florida Keys reefs and submitting a REEF fish ID survey.  Join Allison & Carlos Estape at REEF Headquarters (MM 98.3, Key Largo) at 7 pm on Thursday, July 6th and July 27th to learn how to ID fish seen on Florida Keys Reefs.  On your next dive/snorkel trip, fill in a REEF Volunteer Fish Survey and become a citizen scientist by submitting your sightings to REEF’s Global Fish Survey Database. NE GAFC: Carrying Cove (New Brunswick) Survey Dives

Our Sixth Annual GAFC will be held on Saturday, July 22 at New River Beach. (New Brunswick)

High Tide is at 11:22 with a Tidal Range of 20.7 feet. (ADT, using Dipper Harbour West)

The entry time to do the least amount of walking would be approximately 10:20. For a one hour dive.

Meet and greet at 10:05 to review species recorded at the site and to be in the group picture. 

After the dive(s) we will compare sighting while enjoying water and snacks as well as some swag.

You can do another dive if desired.

This location is for divers of all abilities, as it is usually a spot for check outs.

NE GAFC: New England Aquarium Dive Club Dives, Gloucester, MA

REEF Great Annual Fish Count dives at Stage Fort Park, Gloucester, MA

Event Time: 11:00am-1:30pm: Picnic, 2:00pm: Photo, followed by the Raffle

Each year divers help researchers by surveying fish populations. Join the largest survey in North America! Multiple dive locations and fabulous raffle prizes! $7 donation for lunch. Divers turning in surveys will receive 1 raffle ticket. Pick up trash whenever you can both above and below water and at lunch bring a bottle for free drink re-fills!

There are several fish-count dives the week before the event. Register for the dives with the shops AND at the GAFC page. Then count what marine life you see, and then on July 22, come to the Fish Count and log in the data.

TWA GAFC: Coco View Resort Roatan

Patti and Scott have been documenting fish in the Caribbean waters since 1990 and are enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge.

This is the 11th consecutive year that the GAFC event has been sponsored by, and held at CoCo View Resort who is a REEF Field Station.
