Patti and Scott have been documenting fish in the Caribbean waters since 1990 and are enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge.

This is the 11th consecutive year that the GAFC event has been sponsored by, and held at CoCo View Resort who is a REEF Field Station.

  • Introductory Fish ID Class
  • Intermediate Fish ID Class
  • a variety of Fish ID classes of specific commonly seen families
  • All classes held in AC environment with large screen HDTV incorporating photos and videos
  • Daily Fish ID contest with daily prizes and week’s end grand prizes
  • Access to a REEF Fish ID expert at all meals to assist in ID of mystery fish
  • Huge 8’ x 16’ wall of fish id reference photos of the top 100 commonly sighted fish and creatures to help with ID

TWA GAFC: Fish ID Class - REEF HQ in Key Largo, FL

FREE FISH ID CLASS – PARTICIPATE IN THE GREAT ANNUAL FISH COUNT!

In July, participate in REEF’s Great Annual Fish Count by learning how to ID fish seen on Florida Keys reefs and submitting a REEF fish ID survey.  Join Allison & Carlos Estape at REEF Headquarters (MM 98.3, Key Largo) at 7 pm on Thursday, July 6th and July 27th to learn how to ID fish seen on Florida Keys Reefs.  On your next dive/snorkel trip, fill in a REEF Volunteer Fish Survey and become a citizen scientist by submitting your sightings to REEF’s Global Fish Survey Database. Event is FREE of charge. Volunteers need full dive gear, 1-2 tanks, flashlight, compass, and slate board (if applicable)
