Sand Sole
Posted November 21st, 2007 by canaryrockfish
We found what I believe is a Sand Sole. It was well buried in the sand on the out skirts of the eel grass near 53 ave. CSO Alki, Eliot Bay, WA. We were probably about 15 ft. Although we tried to uncover the sand, it quickly kicked the sand back on itself. What attracted me to it was its large angler jaw, it eye color and shape just slightly raised separated. Most notable was its forward dorsal fins are long and unwebbed.

Lateral line
Next time we will have to try to get a better look at it's lateral line(s).
