What is this thing??

Was walking along the seas edge in Cozumel last week and saw this thing . It is about 3 inches in length and it was near a whole batch of others. They were slightly smaller.
My friend said a Caribbean lobster but I thought NOT!!
so it was moving along slowly, what is it??

Fuzzy Chiton
Your little critters are mollusks, not crustaceans like shrimp & lobster, that feed on algae and are often found in the tidal pools along Coz's ironshore. The ones you photographed are known as Fuzzy Chitons.
