I saw this sea urchin at Grecian Rocks today, in twenty-seven feet of water. It has all white spines. I do not recall ever seeing a sea urchin with all white spines before. Is it albinism, an unusual species, or a normal phase?
Not an expert on sea urchins here, but in South East Florida where I do the majority of my diving these urchins with the white spines are pretty common. Hope this helps.
