Can't tell if this is a Green turtle, Loggerhead or Ridley.  Turtle was approximately 2.5 to 3 feet wide.  Saw the turtle on my first drift dive on June 13, 2009 at Paul's reef off West Palm Beach, FL.

I checked Appendix 2 pg 480 of the 3rd edition of Reef Fish identification by Humann and Deloach and still can not figure out what turtle I saw.  Please help, Thanks!

Palm Beach FL Turtle

The images are of a Loggerhead Turtle (Caretta carreta).  Diagnostic characteristics include the large neck, large size of carapace (shell), and the oblong shape of the carapace. Loggerheads traditionally lay eggs on the beaches of Palm Beach County in May and June.

Thanks for the ID

Thank you for the rapid response to my ID question.  I was leaning toward a loggerhead because the turtle was so large and my research said Ridleys do not get quite that big.
