Yellow Triple Tail????????

so I work at a restaruant that over looks Charleston Harbor and as an advid fisherman I love it, we get all kinds of neat things that come in with the tide schools of Mullet,Mud Minnows, Big bruiser redfish have been seen and caught then released, a few sheephead now and agian etc etc

Anyway recently for the last week and a half from time to time we keep seeing what looks like to myself and others who are also fisherman a Yellow Triple tail. He swims sideways along the top, almost as if he is dying but one day a dish washer scooped him up with the net we use to collect garbage from the water and I was told he was very active and flipping around trying to get away, He didn't just lay their like he was dying.

Sorry I don't have a picture he for the most part stays at the edge of the sea grass. but if I get one I will post..

But I have never heard of nor have ever seen a Yellow Triple Tail but I mean I guess anything is possible in nature..

Is it possible it is a triple tail in shallow water and why is he yellow? if not any suggestions?

  Thanxs

How Big?

Sounds like a young Tripletail. How big is it? Juveniles are bright yellow.

Some of the photos on FishBase show juveniles in shallow water. It says the juveniles sometimes float with Sargasso and mimic floating leafs. Maybe it drifted in with seaweed?

Found the pictures on Photobucket. Definitely a Tripletail. Very cool find!

If anyone else is interested here are links to the photos:

To add pictures to a REEF post I believe you have to resize the images before uploading. I think the easiest (possible only) way is to attach photos in the initial post rather than in a reply. Sorry I can't be more helpful - maybe someone else here can explain better.

Nice

Louis thank you for posting for me.. I couldn't figure it out.. And thanxs for the help IDing this guy. My co-workers will be thrilled to know we have a Triple Tail hanging out
