Could not figure out this fish. I saw several off Key Largo at both a Molasses Reef site and the Benwood wreck site.
My best guess is a grunt or snapper but nothing looks positive.

It's a Mahogany Snapper, Lutjanidae mahogoni. Look for the large eye with yellowish highlights and the reddish border on the edge of the tail. They often have a black spot on their back too.
