PNW GAFC: Fish ID Class Oregon

Fish Identification Class to be held Wednesday evening July 9th from 6 pm to 9pm at Hydrosports Dive and Travel ; located at 3846 River Road North Keizer, Oregon. The Fish Id class is free of charge and will introduce the basics of fish identification and the 40 most common fish encountered in the Pacific North West. ID Class will be taught by Carol and Gregg Cline,  Expert Fish Surveyors who are both part of the REEF Advanced Assessment Team for the PNW.

 

Come  join us and participate in the 2014 Great Annual Fish Count. Hydrosports  Dive and Travel, a REEF Field Station will host two activities as part of the annual events held during the month of July. The Great Annual Fish Count Activities are held each year to introduce divers and snorkelers to fish watching , becoming citizen scientists and to increase awareness and appreciation of our marine resources.

 

 FUN FISH Survey Dives
Then, take your new knowledge of PNW fishes and join us for survey/ fun dives to be held on July 12th in the Hoodsport area of the Hood Canal in Washington.  REEF Underwater survey paper and Slates will be available at Sund Rock dive site in Hoodsport, Washington at 9 am. Fish ID Reference books and resources will be available at Sund Rock Dive site. Note: There is a fee for diving at the Sund Rock site, stop at Hoodsport and Dive to register and obtain a permit and directions to the dive site.

Anyone can participate; (and attendance at the ID class is not required to participate in the dives). Or snorkel if you choose.
