REEF Explorers Program Policies 

Registration

To reserve a space for your group e-mail explorers@REEF.org or call us at 305-852-0030. A deposit will be required to confirm your reservation. Please note that if reserving multiple program spaces, you agree to be financially responsible for all spaces booked, and each individual program space is considered a separate reservation and is subject to the cancellation and refund policy detailed below.

Deposits and Payments

Payment installments are typically due on three occasions: upon reserving space, 60 days from the program, and 45 days from the program. Payment reminder e-mails are sent in advance of the payment due date. If the reservation is made less than 50 days from the anticipated program date, an adjustment payment schedule will apply. See below for full details. Please contact REEF staff to discuss an alternative payment schedule if necessary.

To reserve a program, the following applies: 

Booking a program 60 days prior to the anticipated date: $100 deposit - remaining balance due 45 days before the program date

Booking a program between 45-60 days prior to the anticipated date: $175 deposit - remaining balance due 45 days before program date

Booking 45 days or fewer to the anticipated date: Total amount of program pay in full 

If payment is not received within 14 days past the due date, a 10% late fee will be added to the balance owed. If a payment is outstanding for 30 days, the group's program space may be released and all funds paid will be forfeited. 

If you're going to be out of e-mail contact during a payment due date, please notify REEF staff in advance to make payment arrangements. 

Cancellations

If your plans change and you need to cancel your program, the following cancellation schedule applies:

-          Cancellation greater than 60 days in advance: full refund

-          Cancellation between 60 - 45 days of program: full refund minus the $175 deposit

-          Cancellation less than 45 days from the program date: No refunds available.

Liability Form

Each group participant must sign a REEF liability form if they are partaking in a field excursion (SCUBA, snorkel, kayak, etc.). Participants under 18 years of age must have a Parent/Guardian review and sign the REEF liability form. Please click here to complete the online form.

Additionally, groups participating in Invasive Lionfish collecting and handling must sign a Lionfish Biology and Venomology Understanding of Risk form. Please click here to complete the online form.

Travel & Dive Insurance 

REEF strongly recommends that each REEF Explorer's Program group or participant carry adequate travel and/or dive insurance to protect themselves in advance against any unforeseen circumstances that may occur with travel. Any liabilities for program interruptions, cancellations, or general travel disputes will be the responsibility of the group/participant. Please read the information on your travel and/or dive insurance policy for a full understanding of coverage 

 

REEF Explorers Program Rates

Explorers Workshops

All rates are based on groups of up to 30 participants. There is an $8 fee per participant over 30. There is no fee for chaperones or support staff. Additional fees apply for field sessions such as kayaking, snorkeling, diving, and other partner vendor activities scheduled by REEF. Please inquire with REEF staff for more information. 

$300 standard Explorers Course program rate for one to four hours of programming based at the REEF Campus between 8am and 6pm. 

$350 remote based Explorers Course Program rate for one to four hours of programming based offsite. The remove rate apples to field sessions such as boat based activities or offsite seminars. 

Groups booking multiple programs for the same students in the same week may be eligible for discounted program rates. 

Programs of any kind which are more than 7 miles from the REEF Campus may be subject to a $50 travel fee plus mileage expense at $0.65 per mile.
