Aloha! Discover the endemic fish species of Hawaii while diving the volcanic underwater reef topography around the Big Island. A backdrop of lava flows provide a picturesque landscape for surface intervals aboard the Kona Aggressor II liveaboard. Best Suited For: Divers and snorkelers. While the participants on our liveaboard trips are typically divers, non-diving passengers are welcome. According to the Kona Aggressor, excellent snorkeling is available on this trip.

Accommodations: The Kona Aggressor II holds 14 guests in 6 staterooms. There are 5 deluxe staterooms with a double bed (lower) and a single bed (upper) bunk-style, and 1 quad stateroom designed for four guests, with bunk-style (upper and lower) full and single beds. Deluxe staterooms are located on the main deck, and the quad stateroom is located on the upper deck. All staterooms have a private head and shower, storage and individual climate controls.

Diving: Diving will be done directly from the yacht. There will be 3-4 dives per day, and night dives will be offered on some nights of the charter, conditions permitting. Average water temperatures are 72-80 degrees F with thermoclines. A 3-5mm wetsuit and hood are recommended.

Trip Leader: Amy Lee is REEF’s Engagement and Communications Manager. She oversees REEF’s Field Survey Trips Program and leads communication and outreach efforts. She is an experienced surveyor throughout the Caribbean and tropical Pacific.

Your Package Includes: The trip package includes 7 nights onboard the Kona Aggressor, 6 days of diving including tanks, weights, and weight belts, all meals and snacks (except dinner on the final evening of the trip), non-alcoholic beverages, local beer and wine.

REEF Program Fee: A REEF Program Fee of $300 will be added to each package to cover the cost of the group leader, seminar, and REEF survey materials. The REEF Program Fee applies to all divers and any attendee age 18 or older.

Additional Fees - Not Included: All flights and associated travel to and from Kona, hotels in transit (if needed), transfers to/from airport/yacht/hotel, dinner ashore on the final night of the trip (Aug. 26), optional Nitrox for $100, optional rental gear. Gratuities are not included in the trip package and are at each individual's discretion.

Insurance: Travel insurance is not included. REEF strongly recommends that each participant purchase adequate dive travel insurance to protect you from unforeseen circumstances. REEF partners with both DiveAssure and DAN to offer travel insurance packages specifically for divers. REEF will receive a portion of the proceeds from travel insurance purchases when you click on the following affiliate links for DiveAssure or DAN.

How to Get There: Participants are responsible for booking flights to/from Kona International Airport (KOA). Boarding begins at 5pm on Aug. 20. Check out is at 8am on Aug. 27. Departure flights may be booked for any time on Aug. 27.

Hotels: The Kona Aggressor II operates out of the downtown pier in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Aggressor's suggested hotel is Royal Kona Resort. Guests are responsible for making their own hotel arrangements before and after boarding.

Transfers: Transfers are not included in the trip package, but taxis are readily availble at the airport at the curb in front of all baggage claim areas. The downtown pier is a 20-minute taxi ride from the airport. At the end of the trip, a crew member will assist guests with taxi arrangements to the Kona Airport or a local hotel.

Passports, Documentation and Visas: Visitors must have a current passport, adequate funds to support themselves, and a return airline ticket. Please consult the appropriate consulate for specific travel regulations and to ensure that you have the correct documentation.
