Just got back from a week's stay at the Barcelo Maya.... This is the first post of a few unknowns that I photographed. Let me be the first to say, it's a brutal pic. Unfortunately he bolted after just two pics... I thought I'd put on the forum to see if anyone has any thoughts on it. I initially thought it may be a blennie/goby, until I came across a picture of a Belted Sandfish in Humann/Deloach. It seems to share similar features....although the photos are blurry. It was sighted in 10 feet of water, just on the periphery of a rcoky reef, sitting on the sandy bottom. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thx.

Jeff, it appears to me to be in the blenny family because of how it is using its pectorals to perch. But that is a guess at best because of the quality of the photo as you say.

I am 100% certain it is not a Belted sandfish however.
