2011 Derby Location Information

The 2011 Middle Keys Lionfish Derby is being held on the beautiful island of Long Key, Florida and has been made possible by sponsorship from the City of Layton, which is centrally located on Long Key at mile marker 68. 

Both the Captains Meeting and the Derby Festivities will be held at Fiesta Key Resort at mile marker 70.  Fiesta Key Resort, formerly the KOA campground, offers campgrounds, RV spots, standard hotel rooms, and rooms with a kitchen.  Additionally they have a well-kept boat ramp and marina, a swimming pool, and a restaurant with a full bar. 

How do participants get out on the water to collect lionfish?!?!?

To collect lionfish on derby day, participants are welcome to use their own personal boats, rental boats, go diving with a charter, or dive from shore. All lionfish must be collected from FL Keys waters!  For official derby rules, click here.
