REEF is committed to creating a welcoming and enriching environment for all.

Inclusive Design: We strive to ensure that the Ocean Exploration Center is accessible for our guests with mobility limitations. There is an electronic lift available to access the 2nd floor of the Ocean Exploration Center and all restrooms are wheelchair accessible. Please note that some pathways in the Native Plants & Heritage Trail are uneven and may be inaccessible. The Campus Administration building is only accessible by a small set of stairs.

Parking: Designated handicapped parking locations are found at the entrance of the Ocean Exploration Center and in front of the Reefscape Room. Passenger loading zones are available at the Center entrance.

Service Animals: Service animals are permitted in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Pets and support animals are not allowed inside the Ocean Exploration Center, but are welcome on other areas of the REEF Campus.

Sensory Kits and Map: REEF is dedicated to welcoming individuals and families with diverse sensory and accessibility needs to discover and explore the Ocean Exploration Center. Our staff have Sensory bags available for check-out on a first come first serve basis. Backpacks contain adjustable Noise Reducing Headphones, Sensory Squishy Toys, and a Sensory Friendly Map of the building. We ask that all backpacks are returned to a team member with all contents before exiting the building. We do not currently offer dedicated hours for neurodiverse visitors but are happy to provide suggesitons on quiet times to visit. Click here to download our Sensory Map.

Spanish Language Support: All digital interactive exhibits have options for Spanish language captions. The Native Plants & Heritage Trail Guide is available in Spanish. Other Spanish language resources are available from our Center staff.

Free Admission: Central to our 'Oceans for All' values, admission to the Ocean Exploration Center is free for everyone. REEF is also a member of the Museums for All network. Museums for All is a national, branded access program that encourages individuals of all backgrounds to visit museums regularly and build lifelong museum habits.
