Expanding Access and Opportunity in Marine Conservation
For many people, a connection to the ocean begins with a single experience. Snorkeling a coral reef for the first time, spotting a fish in the wild, participating in a field expedition, or hearing directly from a marine scientist. Those moments can spark curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong commitment to protecting the marine environment.
Oceans for All helps create those opportunities.
Through scholarships, educational programs, internships, and outreach initiatives, Oceans for All helps reduce financial and access barriers so that more students, educators, families, and communities can experience and engage with marine conservation firsthand.

What is Oceans for All?
Oceans for All is REEF's initiative to expand access to marine conservation education, ocean exploration, and hands-on learning opportunities.
The initiative supports programs that help individuals connect with the ocean through real-world experiences that inspire curiosity, build skills, and encourage long-term involvement in conservation and science.
From classrooms and virtual learning experiences to field expeditions and internships, Oceans for All helps open doors to opportunities that may otherwise be out of reach due to financial, geographic, or educational barriers.
Why does it matter?
Many students and communities have limited opportunities to experience the ocean firsthand or participate in marine science and conservation programs.
For some, travel costs, equipment needs, or housing expenses can make participation difficult. Others may attend schools without access to marine science resources or live far from coastal environments and field experiences.
Oceans for All helps bridge those gaps by creating pathways for participation, exploration, and discovery.
Through this initiative, students can experience coral reefs for the first time, teachers can bring ocean education directly into their classrooms, and interns can gain hands-on conservation experience that helps prepare them for future careers in marine science and environmental stewardship.
When more people have the opportunity to connect with the ocean, marine conservation grows stronger.
How is Oceans for All making a difference?
Oceans for All supports immersive programs that inspire learning, exploration, and stewardship through direct experiences with the marine environment.
Marine Conservation Internship Program
Since 2022, REEF interns and fellows have received financial support through monthly stipends and housing provided at no cost while participating in the program. By helping reduce financial barriers, Oceans for All makes it possible for more students and early-career professionals to pursue valuable hands-on conservation experiences, fieldwork, and professional development opportunities.
Many interns leave the program with expanded career pathways, field experience, professional connections, and a deeper understanding of marine conservation.
Ocean Explorers Programs
Virtual Field Trips
REEF facilitates Virtual Field Trips at no cost so that teachers can bring engaging ocean education experiences directly into their classrooms, regardless of location or budget. These programs connect students with marine environments, conservation topics, and scientists in interactive and accessible ways.
Expeditions and Discovery Program Scholarships
Oceans for All provides scholarships that help students and groups participate in REEF's field-based Expeditions and Discovery Programs. These experiences allow participants to explore marine habitats firsthand, develop leadership skills, and build meaningful connections with the ocean through experiential learning.
For many participants, these programs provide a first opportunity to snorkel a coral reef, conduct marine science activities in the field, or experience the ocean in a new way.
