A segment featuring REEF's research on the invasion of the Indo-Pacific Lionfish into the western Atlantic and Caribbean was featured on NBC Nightly News June 30th. Click here to view the segment online.

NBC correspondent, Michelle Kosinski, worked closely with REEF, NOAA, USGS, the National Aquarium in Washington DC and our other partners to produce the story. The close partnerships that REEF has formed to address the situation are yielding great results, but we are more concerned than ever about the spread of this invasion and the impacts it may have.  Working with news agencies like NBC helps get the word out, but we need strong action and support as well.  For more information on our lionfish research and to get involved, visit the exotic species pages of REEF's website.

If you have any questions regarding REEF's work on invasive species or the NBC segment, please contact Lad Akins, REEF Director of Special Projects, (305) 852-0030, (305) 942-7333 cell.
