Novice Fish Identification Training Session and REEF Survey

Saturday, Mar 13, 2010, 8:00am - 11:00am
Location:
Waikiki: Queen's Beach Park, near lifeguard tower 2F (look for a white pop-up tent)
RSVP Instructions:
If you are interested in attending the snorkel survey or the class please RSVP to heather@reefwatchwaikiki.org. To participate in a snorkel survey you must complete the introductory fish identification class.

Join us for a one hour introductory reef fish ID training class which will be followed immediately by an OPTIONAL snorkel survey for those who would like to test what they’ve learned. The class will begin at 8 am and the survey will begin around 9:30 am. The survey will last approximately 30-40 minutes and involve identifying, counting and recording reef fish observed in the Waikiki MLCD. Those wishing to participate in the survey should be strong swimmers, competent snorkelers, and have their own mask, snorkel and fins. After the snorkel, we’ll gather briefly on the beach to identify any unknown fish and share sightings of cool marine critters.

If participating in the snorkel, please bring: mask, snorkel, fins, sunscreen, rash guard or wetsuit, towel, and water. I will provide pens, pencils, dive slates and snacks.
