10 teams participated in our first derby of the season held at Fiesta Key Resort on Long Key, bringing in a total of 531 lionfish. Teams hailed from throughout the Keys, Miami, Ft. Meyers, and Vero Beach.
MOST LIONFISH
1st Place: Team Strategery (Chris Rose and Adam Vela, from Key Largo) with 158 lionfish.
2nd Place: Team Full Circle (Allison and Carlos Estape, Jen Russell, and Dave Champagne from Islamorada) with 121 lionfish.
3rd Place: Team Key Lime Good Time (Rob Waara, Lee Richter, Amanda Lawrence, & Kara Wall, from Miami) with 69 lionfish.
SMALLEST LIONFISH
1st Place: Team Key Lime Good Time (Rob Waara, Lee Richter, Amanda Lawrence, & Kara Wall, from Miami) with a 65 mm lionfish.
2nd Place: Team Marathon Boatyard Lionfish Hunters (Joe Bauman & Keith Bockenstette, from Marathon, FL) with a 66 mm lionfish.
3rd Place: Team Strategery (Chris Rose and Adam Vela, from Key Largo) with a 70 mm lionfish.
BIGGEST LIONFISH
1st Place: Team Full Circle (Allison and Carlos Estape, Jen Russell, and Dave Champagne from Islamorada) with a 357 mm lionfish.
