Thanks for your interest in the Lionfish Collecting and Handling Workshop in Pine Knoll Shores, North Carolina. This workshop will be held at the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores in the Big Rock Theater (1 Roosevelt Blvd #27511, Pine Knoll Shores, NC 28512) on May 26th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The workshop will cover the history of the invasion, lionfish biology, ecological impacts, venomology, how to avoid getting stung, first aid for stings, and recommended techniques for collection, handling and filleting. This workshop is made possible through funding from the US Fish and Wildlife Service and support from the Eastern Carolina Artificial Reef Association, Pine Knoll Shores Aquarium and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. ***This workshop will also have associated lionfish hunting dives with Olympus Dive Center and Discovery Diving the following day, May 27th. If you are interested in participating in these lionfish dives please contact Olympus Dive Center (252-726-9432) or Discovery Diving (252-728-2265) for more information and to reserve your spot! Please note, these dives will be challenging, deeper wreck dives, thus the proper dive experience level will be required.
