Join REEF's annual trip to Cozumel for a wonderful week of camaraderie, diving, and citizen science! Enjoy fabulous diving in crystal clear waters that have been protected as a marine park for nearly 20 years. Many great fish finds await, including the endemic Splendid Toadfish, found only in this area. When not diving, you will enjoy all the wonderful food and culture that Mexico has to offer, as well as daily seminars by Cozumel local and long-time REEF Expert, Tracey Griffin, and REEF Outreach Coordinator Janna Nichols, who conducted her 1,000th REEF survey in Cozumel in 2015! Cost per person: $654 for double occupancy at Safari Inn, $820 for single occupancy at Safari Inn, $716 for double occupancy at Casa Mexicana, $1,017 for single occupancy at Casa Mexicana

What is included: Your package includes 7 nights of accommodation at either Safari Inn or Casa Mexicana, 5 days of 2-tank boat dives with Chili Charters, deluxe breakfast buffet included in Casa Mexicana package, daily gear storage, tanks and weights.

Additional fees: A REEF Program Fee of $300 per diver will be added to each package to cover the cost of the group leader, seminar and survey materials. Airport transfers, ground transportation, and meals (other than breakfast if staying at Casa Mexicana) not included - there are many excellent restaurants just a few steps away from both lodging options. Nitrox available with advance notice (prices to be determined.) Optional additional afternoon dives are $40 per person, optional night dives at $50 per person. A $2.50 per person per day marine park access fee will be collected onsite. Taxes and fees subject to change.

Airport/hotel transfer information: Participants will fly into/out of Cozumel (CZM) Airport. Taxi from airport is approximately $5 (8 minutes ride.)

About the trip leaders: Tracey Griffin is a REEF fish expert who is passionate about marine life. A full-time resident of Cozumel, she has led the REEF Field Survey Trip there for many years. Under Tracey’s leadership, the Cozumel Field Survey Trip is one of REEF’s most popular trips, and the only destination we return to every year. Tracey has completed over 900 surveys, is part of the Advanced Assessment Team in the Tropical Western Atlantic region, and shares her fish ID expertise in REEF Fishinars. Over the years, she has participated and contributed to all of REEF’s projects including the volunteer Fish Survey Project, Grouper Moon Project, and Invasive Lionfish Project.

Janna is REEF’s Outreach Coordinator, focusing on member relations, field stations, and working extensively with the Volunteer Fish Survey Project. Janna is passionate about underwater photography and marine life identification. She has completed over 1000 surveys (REEF's Golden Hamlet Club) and is the leader of REEF’s Pacific Coast Advanced Assessment Team. In 2003, she received REEF’s Volunteer of the Year award and in 2013, she received Dive News Network’s Diver of the Year Award.
