Home to eight of the most species-rich sites in REEF’s Caribbean database, the reefs of Bonaire are legendary among underwater naturalists. This is a perfect trip for the beginner or experienced surveyor alike. Marine biologists, Drs. Brice and Christy Semmens, will be your guides on what is sure to be a great week.

Cost Per Person: 

Studio $1,175 (double occ) $1,852 (single occ).

One-Bedroom Apartment $1,256 (double occ) $2,014 (single occ).

What is included: Your package includes 7 nights double occupancy accommodation at Buddy Dive in either a studio or one-bedroom apartment, 7 days rental vehicle (per room), 6 1-tank daily boat dives, 6 days of unlimited air fills for shore diving, 6 days of free Nitrox upgrades, tank rental and weights, daily American style breakfast buffet, welcome drink, Manager’s Rum Punch Party, WiFi, airport transfers, all government taxes.

Additional fees: A REEF Program Fee of $300 per diver will be added to each package to cover the cost of the group leaders, seminar and survey materials. Meals other than breakfast are not included.  Bonaire Marine Park Fee of $25/pp cash to be paid directly to dive shop at time of required shore diving orientation. 

Airport/hotel transfer information:Participants will fly into/out of Kralendijk, Bonaire (BON) Flamingo International Airport, and then transported the short distance (15 min) to Buddy Dive Resort. A rental vehicle (for each room) will be provided upon check-in.

About the trip leaders: Dr. Christy Pattengill-Semmens is REEF's Director of Science, and her husband Dr. Brice Semmens, is a professor of coral reef ecology and fisheries at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Christy and Brice have been part of the REEF program since its beginnings in 1993 when they were interns for the Nature Conservancy. They have led dozens of REEF Field Surveys over the years to all of REEF's survey project regions.
