Discover Barkley Sound with local expert Janna Nichols, as well as Peter Mieras and Kathy Johnson, longtime REEF supporters and owners of Rendezvous Dive Adventures. Situated between Port Alberni and Bamfield, Barkley Sound will treat participants to excellent diving and encounters with wildlife both above and below the water. This region has some of the world's richest waters, and is home to many fascinating creatures including China Rockfish, as well as Wolf Eels and Giant Pacific Octopus. Also called the Emerald Sea, it was rated by Jacques Cousteau as one of the top dive sites in the world!

Cost per Person: $970 Canadian Dollars per diver for double occupancy

What is included: Your package includes 4 nights of lodging, 4 days of diving (2-3 dives per day depending on conditions and distance of sites), all meals beginning with breakfast on Monday through lunch on Thursday, round-trip transportation from Port Alberni, use of kayaks and hot tub, tanks and weights.

Additional fees: A REEF Program Fee of $150 per diver will be added to each package to cover the cost of the group leader, seminar, and survey materials. Nitrox is available for an additional fee (must be arranged at least 3 weeks prior to trip.) Fuel surcharges may be added if fuel prices continue to increase; participants will be notified of fuel surcharges in advance of the trip.

Airport/hotel transfer information: Divers will be picked up in Port Alberni at 4pm on Sunday. Please bring your own dinner to eat in transit. Participants will return to Port Alberni at 4pm on Thursday.

About the trip leader: Janna is REEF’s Outreach Coordinator, focusing on member relations, field stations, and working extensively with the Volunteer Fish Survey Project. Janna is passionate about underwater photography and marine life identification. She has completed over 1000 surveys (REEF's Golden Hamlet Club) and is the leader of REEF’s Pacific Coast Advanced Assessment Team. In 2003, she received REEF’s Volunteer of the Year award and in 2013, she received Dive News Network’s Diver of the Year Award.
