Looking for ways to get involved in conservation- look no further!

The SMILE Project (Size Matters: Innovative Length Estimates) is a collaborative research effort that uses citizen scientists to collect important fish length data. Volunteer divers use underwater cameras equipped with lasers (how cool!) to measure fish in the wild. These length data are provided to fisheries managers that ultimately advance conservation efforts. Right now, we're especially focused on getting more cameras into the hands of recreational divers so we can gather more data and keep the project moving forward. During this event we will go over everything you need to know to participate, including training on how to use the cameras, how data transfers will work, and more.

All are welcome! This event will be tailored to dive shops and dive professionals interested in learning how they can get involved, but anyone wanting in learning about the project is encouraged to attend.

Pizza and refereshments will be provided.
