Eat Em’ to Beat Em’

 Food and Wine Event

Hosted by the Reef Environmental Education Foundation and The Fish House Encore

REEF has partnered with Fish House Encore to host our Inaugural Lionfish Food and Wine Event, properly titled Eat Em’ to Beat Em’!

Since 2006, REEF has been working with different government agencies and partners throughout the region to help develop lionfish response plans, train resource managers and dive operators in effective collecting and handling techniques, and conduct cutting edge research to help address the invasion. Through these efforts new developments have been made in the management of lionfish populations, one of them being the successful addition of lionfish to restaurant menus throughout the region.

Join us Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at The Fish House Encore to raise awareness of the lionfish invasion and how you can do your part to control their populations. A summary of the evening’s events are listed below:

  • Learn about recent developments in the lionfish invasion
  • Participate in a lionfish filleting demo
  • Learn to cook recipes from the Lionfish Cookbook and Chef Peter from The Fish House Encore
  • Mingle with REEF staff, volunteers, and other marine enthusiasts
  • Enjoy a Tapas style lionfish dinner paired with wine
  • Take home a Lionfish Package including REEF’s very own Lionfish Cookbook signed by Lad Akins and a voucher for two lionfish filets to be redeemed at The Fish House

**Space is Limited! Ticket price is $75.00 and includes all of the above**
