The Florida Reef Tract has been experiencing a multi-year, multi-species disease outbreak since September of 2014. Over 60 partners have come together to respond to this disease event, including local Florida Sea Grant agents Ana Zangroniz (Miami-Dade) and Shelly Krueger (Monroe). The agents created a citizen science monitoring training to engage the recreational SCUBA diving community. This presentation discusses the disease event, and different ways that the community can become involved in response.

REEF Fish & Friends is a free, monthly seminar series that features engaging ocean-themed presentations from guest speakers. Snorkelers, divers, and marine life enthusiasts are invited to join informal discussions and mingle with members of our friendly, ocean-minded community. Complimentary appetizers and refreshments are provided. The evening kicks off with a social starting at 6:15pm, and the presentation begins at 7pm.
