Encourage Your Divers To Become REEF Level 2 Surveyors in the TWA Region (Caribbean and Florida)

Students who purchase REEF's Beginning Reef Fish Identification Home-Study Course for the Caribbean & Florida can become a Level 2 REEF Surveyor by following 3 easy steps:

1. Join REEF (if not already a member). It's free and easy - just click Join REEF on the REEF.org home page.

2. Earn a passing score of 80% or more on the REEF Level 2 Surveyor Quiz.

3. Conduct two REEF surveys.

Some customers will be satisfied to simply learn to identify the fish species taught in the Beginning Course; however most will want to become active REEF Surveyors. You will find that customers who chose to be REEF Surveyors will become much more active divers. This is an excellent home-study course to offer customers prior to their personal dive vacations, or for groups registered for the next Florida or Caribbean dive trip sponsored by your business.

Administering the REEF Level 2 Surveyor Quiz

The REEF TWA Level 2 Surveyor Quiz is currently available as a PDF. The quiz can be administered to Home-Study course students at your facility in three easy ways. Options are: 1) print out a color copy of the Quiz PDF for each of your students; 2) print out one master color copy and provide your student a REEF answer sheet; or 3) open the Quiz PDF on your computer screen and have your student look at the images online and write answers to the REEF answer sheet.

Upon successful completion of the Quiz, report the student's results using the Student Verification Form.

Conducting REEF Surveys

Divers and snorkelers may complete the two required Survey Dives during their vacation, on an organized REEF Field Survey, or at their local diving destination. Survey participants enter data online at REEF.org after returning home or on a paper scanform (please note paper forms require longer processing time).

Please advise students that they will need the unique survey form ID number that is reported upon submission of their data online or at the bottom of the paper scanform in order to request their Level 2 Survey Card. They will also need to submit the Level 2 Surveyor Verification Form accessible via http://www.reef.org/level2. Upon verification, REEF will mail their Level 2 Survey card.

Once they are official REEF surveyors, volunteers can access their personal fish sighting data online. The REEF Level 2 Surveyor status is the first step toward becoming a Level 4 or 5 REEF Expert Surveyor and joining the prestigious REEF Advanced Assessment Team (AAT). AAT members receive special invitations to join research diving projects, including free or discounted group survey dives.
