Please join us for the REEF Great American Fish Count presented by Naknek Charters and The SeaDoc Society. The day will begin with a FREE fish and invertebrate identification class presented by SeaDoc Society's Chief Scientist, Joe Gaydos.
Saturday morning July 10 Reef Advanced Assessment Team members Carol and Gregg Cline will be teaching the Reef Pacific Northwest Fish ID class . After lunch two survey dives will be complete at Sund Rock.
Sunday morning, July 11, Carol and Gregg will conduct the Pacific Northwest Invertebrate ID class. Two survey dives will be conducted immediately after the class.
The class will begin at 6 pm and last till around 8pm. The class includes instruction on how to complete the REEF survey method followed by basic coral reef ecology, fish biology, identification tips, and specific information about different fish families. The REEF survey consists of recording the different species of fish and number of each fish with basic snorkel gear.
It’s summertime on the North Shore. Surf’s down; time to count some fish! Join FIN – O`ahu for a REEF survey on Saturday, June 26 at Waimea Bay. We’ll provide training and materials for first-time surveyors. So grab your snorkel and fins and join us for the fun, and help protect our oceans at the same time. We’ll meet on the left side of the beach at 8:00 am. Look for the REEF banner.
