From outreach events like the Baygrass Bluegrass
Festival, to Fish & Friends and educational programs,
January has been jam packed with events! With the
help and direction of their intern coordinator, David
Ehlert, and lead interns, Maya Ganapathy and Stacey
Henderson, the Spring 2020 Marine Conservation
Interns have already accomplished so much! Maddi,
Amelia and Riley have been working as a team to
successfully plan a Lionfish Jewelry Workshop, which
will take place at REEF HQ on February 27. 

RILEY ZOLDI
Riley Zoldi, born and raised in New Jersey,
graduated from North Carolina State University
in 2019 with dual Bachelor degrees in
Environmental Sciences and Marine Sciences
with a concentration in Biological Oceanography.
She has a passion for hands-on marine science
education and is excited to spread marine
conservation awareness in the Florida Keys
through education and outreach events. Riley has
spearheaded the sustainable packaging project.
From now on all Fish ID Starter Kits will be
packaged in reusable cotton bags instead of
plastic bags!
MADDI PIASCIK
Maddi Piascik is from Richmond, VA and
graduated in December 2019 from the University
of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in
Marine Science and a minor in Advertising and
Public Relations. Maddi has been using her
creativity and graphic design skills to create
REEF t-shirts, logos, flyers and other marketing
materials. She has a passion to connect the
public with the marine conservation initiatives
of REEF using her creative communication
skills. For example, Maddi designed and
manufactured personalized store inserts which
will be included in all orders made at the REEF
online store.
AMELIA WELCH
Amelia Welch was born and survived in
Minnesota. She studied in Menomonie,
Wisconsin at the University of Wisconsin Stout
where she is currently pursuing her Bachelors
degree in Sustainable Management. Amelia is
using her creativity and spunk to improve and
innovate new ideas and projects at REEF. She
has developed new signs for REEF's garden
which will work to inspire and educate the
public about the importance of land
conservation and preserving and improving
biodiversity of plant species.
