Cownose Ray - Conservation Creature Plush
Cownose Ray (Rhinoptera bonasus) are strong swimmers and migrate long distances in large schools of up to thousands of individuals. When swimming near the surface, these rays are sometimes mistaken for sharks because the tips of their wings closely resemble a shark's dorsal fin. They are found in temperate and tropical waters including REEF’s TWA, SAS, and NE regions.
REEF Conservation Creatures are iconic marine species from REEF’s Volunteer Fish Survey Project regions. These marine creatures highlight the diversity of ocean ecosystems and encourage understanding and respect for marine life. We hope they inspire you to join REEF and learn more about the marine environment!
Each plush comes with a Conservation Card that provides information about the critter's habitat, characteristics, potential threats, and global distribution in REEF's Survey Project regions.
