The charming island of Nevis is known for its quiet villages, lush green mountains, and tranquil beaches. Nevis is separated from its sister island, St. Kitts, by a two-mile stretch of water known as the Narrows, home to interesting marine life like barracudas, eagle rays, and other fish. The leeward and windward sides of the island have plenty of variety including reefs, wrecks, and volcanic vents to explore. The picturesque topside scenery of this quaint Caribbean island makes this the ideal destination for both divers and non-divers to enjoy.

Experience some of the most wonderful diving the Bay Islands of Honduras have to offer by joining trip leader Janna Nichols on REEF’s Field Survey to CoCo View Resort, located on a secluded key in Roatan. Enjoy up to four boat dives daily, plus unlimited shore diving at CoCo View’s house reefs, where more than 300 fish species have been recorded. Fish enthusiasts will be delighted to search for the many species restricted to this region, such as the Filament Blenny, Bearded Toadfish, and Kuna Goby.

We are happy to welcome four new Marine Conservation Interns to REEF. These individuals will play a vital role in the organization by assisting with numerous summer projects including Lionfish Derbies and Ocean Explorers Summer Camp, while working to support daily office operations and other mission-oriented tasks. They will also have many opportunities to dive, conduct fish surveys, and volunteer with environmental organizations in South Florida and the Florida Keys. Each group of interns brings a unique perspective and skill set to REEF. Our Summer 2018 interns include:

REEF is made up of passionate members who champion for our oceans and contribute their time and talents to preserving our environment. Many have been members for years and a few recently departed, before their time. We gratefully acknowledge these individuals and their family’s desire to recognize the importance of REEF in their lives by designating REEF as a recipient of donations in lieu of flowers.
