Wow! Linda Ridley is now officially the 6th entrant into the Golden Hamlet Club (GHC) which has as its main membership requirement entrants having completed 1,000 fish id surveys. Linda Ridley joins Lad Akins, Linda Baker, Judie Clee, Peter Leahy, Linda Schillinger (what is it with the name Linda anyway, maybe should be renamed the Linda Hamlet Club?). This really is a tremendous achievement and those of you who survey regularly understand just how much work goes into completing 100 surveys and submitting all that data , now imagine 1,000 surveys.

Here are a few notes and news bits we'd like you to know about:

REEF is excited to announce the launch of a completely redesigned REEF.org website! A unique look, enhanced features, and pages of fresh content ... the address is the same but almost everything else about the REEF website is new.

5 nights/6 days - $260, includes 3 days of boat diving (2 days of 2 tank diving and 1 day of 3 tank diving) with Cypress Charters and an organized day of shore diving at Pt. Lobos Marine Reserve. This package does not include lodging - options include Monterey Plaza Hotel (group rate of $785 per person double-occ for diving and lodging) and the Cypress Tree Inn ($50 - $150 per night). We will also be doing a behind-the-scenes tour of the Monterey Bay Aquarium. *REEF Fee is $125. (non-diver price at Monterey Plaza Hotel $525; day-diving prices also available)

This week is for divers and snorkelers who are interested in learning more about marine life and seeing more during their time in the water. World-renowned marine naturalists, Ned and Anna DeLoach, authors of Reef Fish Identification and Reef Fish Behavior, will be your leaders and will schedule several short slide and video fish behavior presentations during the week to teach and discuss the wonderful world of marine life behavior. Topics will include feeding, predation, and reproduction.
